Montessori Nautilus School
Bilingual Montessori Nursery and Kindergarten
Nautilus is an innovative nursery and kindergarten project designed to welcome children from 0 to 6 years of age in a beautiful, safe, and stimulating environment.
Located within a corporate setting, Nautilus embodies a contemporary vision of education: a learning space that blends pedagogical functionality with architectural quality, thoughtfully designed to meet the real needs of both children and families.
Every environment is carefully planned to encourage independence, exploration, and growth through meaningful experiences.
The Project
The project was born from an idea by AMF and Nicole Faerber, with the goal of combining well-being, autonomy, and freedom in every detail.
At the heart of Nautilus is its educational approach, inspired by the Montessori Method, implemented with consistency and a contemporary perspective. The school follows the principles of the Method in every aspect: from the rhythm of the day to the layout of the spaces, from the organization of materials to the central role of the child.
Within this framework, GAM collaborated on the spatial design and developed a brand-new line of Montessori furniture. Originally created for Nautilus, this line was conceived to be used in any nursery or early childhood setting.
It is a collection that is essential, modular, and pedagogically coherent, designed to support children’s freedom of movement, sense of order, and autonomy.
Tables and Chairs for Nurseries and Kindergartens
The first pieces developed by GAM for Nautilus were tables and chairs — everyday objects that are essential to the quality of the learning experience.
Crafted from natural wood with a clean, minimalist design, these pieces combine tradition with innovation:
- Lightweight, well-proportioned shapes to encourage independent use
- Warm, durable materials ideal for everyday learning environments
- Fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, ensuring both comfort and safety
These are timeless furnishings that can seamlessly adapt to any educational setting while reflecting the core values of Montessori education.

The Nautilus Shelf: Modular Furniture that Shapes Space
A standout piece in the new GAM line is the Nautilus Shelf, a modern reinterpretation of the classic open shelving unit found in Montessori classrooms.
This is not just a piece of furniture — it is the basic module of a system designed to define and organize educational spaces.
Thanks to its connected side and back panels, the shelf can be combined in countless configurations, helping create dynamic, welcoming environments where each area is dedicated to different activities: play, reading, exploration.
It’s a furnishing solution that structures the space without closing it off, offering order, accessibility, and beauty.

Bookcases and Special Elements: A Complete Collection for Early Childhood
The system is enriched with a range of complementary furnishings designed to personalize and complete any learning environment:
- Bookcases in various sizes
- Closed storage units for materials
- Stackable beds for rest time
- Multi-shaped cubes inspired by Emmi Pikler’s research
- Special elements for movement and motor development
Each piece is designed to help create coherent spatial compositions that support children’s activities in a meaningful and intentional way.
